Dans de nombreux pays, elle est devenue le principal parti de la classe ouvri\u00e8re. Cependant, en raison des faiblesses subjectives de ses dirigeants \u2013 qui manquaient de clart\u00e9 th\u00e9orique \u2013 et sous la pression du puissant essor \u00e9conomique entre 1890 et le d\u00e9but de la Premi\u00e8re Guerre mondiale, la social-d\u00e9mocratie a abandonn\u00e9 les id\u00e9es de la r\u00e9volution pour se tourner vers le r\u00e9formisme. D\u00e8s lors, elle a trahi une r\u00e9volution apr\u00e8s l\u2019autre. Jouant le r\u00f4le de briseuse de gr\u00e8ves et freinant l'\u00e9lan r\u00e9volutionnaire de la classe ouvri\u00e8re, elle a ouvert la voie \u00e0 la mont\u00e9e du fascisme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apr\u00e8s la Seconde Guerre mondiale, port\u00e9e par la croissance sans pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent de l'apr\u00e8s-guerre, la social-d\u00e9mocratie a connu un nouveau souffle et a encore domin\u00e9 le mouvement ouvrier. Une fois cette p\u00e9riode exceptionnelle cl\u00f4tur\u00e9e dans les ann\u00e9es 1970, leurs dirigeants sont alors de nouveau intervenus pour \u00e9touffer les braises de la lutte des classes.
