Dennoch argumentieren einige, sie sei kaum mehr als ein Machtkampf zwischen zwei Gruppen wei\u00dfer Landbesitzer gewesen. Oberfl\u00e4chlich betrachtet mag daran etwas Wahres sein. Unsere Aufgabe als historische Materialisten ist es jedoch, unter die Oberfl\u00e4che zu blicken. Wir m\u00fcssen die inneren Widerspr\u00fcche, grundlegenden Prozesse, wirtschaftlichen Umw\u00e4lzungen und Klassenk\u00e4mpfe aufdecken, die die Revolution letztlich motivierten und vorantrieben.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Flie\u00dfend aus Trotzkis Definition war es der entscheidende Eintritt der Massen auf die B\u00fchne der Geschichte, der diesen Prozess als revolution\u00e4r kennzeichnete. Ob sie sich ihrer Ziele bewusst waren oder nicht, Millionen gew\u00f6hnlicher Amerikaner erwachten zu politischem und sozialem Bewusstsein und ergriffen ihr Schicksal in einem Versuch, die Gesellschaft zu ver\u00e4ndern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kurz gesagt, was sich in den nordamerikanischen Kolonien Gro\u00dfbritanniens abspielte, war komplex und widerspr\u00fcchlich. So wie der Amerikanische B\u00fcrgerkrieg die zweite Revolution des Landes war, war die erste Revolution dessen erster B\u00fcrgerkrieg. Es war kein rein antikolonialer Krieg f\u00fcr nationale Befreiung, Demokratie und Republikanismus. Es war auch kein einfacher Krieg um Land und die Enteignung indigener V\u00f6lker und f\u00fcr die Ausweitung der Sklaverei.
