In vielen L\u00e4ndern wurde sie zur Hauptpartei der Arbeiterklasse. Doch aufgrund der subjektiven Schw\u00e4chen ihrer F\u00fchrer \u2013 mangelnde theoretische Klarheit \u2013 und des Drucks des m\u00e4chtigen Wirtschaftsaufschwungs von den 1890er Jahren bis zum Ersten Weltkrieg gab die Sozialdemokratie die Ideen der Revolution auf und bewegte sich in Richtung Reformismus. Sie verriet dann eine Revolution nach der anderen, spielte die Rolle von Streikbrechern und hielt die Arbeiterklasse zur\u00fcck. Dies wiederum bereitete den Boden f\u00fcr den Aufstieg des Faschismus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg erlebte die Sozialdemokratie auf dem R\u00fccken des beispiellosen Nachkriegsbooms ein neues Aufleben und wurde erneut zu einer dominanten Kraft innerhalb der Arbeiterbewegung. Als dieser Boom jedoch in den 1970er Jahren endete, mussten ihre F\u00fchrer erneut die Br\u00e4nde des Klassenkampfes l\u00f6schen.
